…Calls for Agricultural Revival in Schools, Urges Unity for Development

In a statement by the Director of Press The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has described the Gindiri Compound Schools as legacy institutions of enduring influence and vital training grounds that have produced generations of leaders who have shaped Nigeria’s public, academic, and spiritual life.

Governor Mutfwang made the remarks during the 33rd National Convention and Reunion Service of the Gindiri Old Students Association (GOSA), held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the COCIN Gindiri Schools Chaplaincy, Mangu Local Government Area.

With the theme “Strengthening Our Legacy: Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders,” the event drew hundreds of alumni from the 1975 to 2005 sets who converged to celebrate God’s faithfulness and the enduring impact of their alma mater.

A proud member of GOSA Set 1982, Governor Mutfwang described his return to Gindiri as “a homecoming of pride and gratitude,” recalling the discipline, spirituality, and values that shaped generations of leaders, including himself.

“Gindiri is not just a school; it is an institution dedicated to grooming leaders. It has produced vice chancellors, professors, public servants, and clergy who have impacted Nigeria and beyond. The time has come for a Gindiri Renewal Initiative that will reposition this great legacy for the future,”

the Governor declared.

He urged members of GOSA to uphold unity and shared purpose, cautioning against divisive tendencies that could derail the association’s collective vision.

“Let us promote ideals that entrench unity of purpose rather than fan the embers of division. We owe it to the founders and to the next generation to preserve the Gindiri spirit,”

he admonished.

Governor Mutfwang announced the constitution of a team of eminent GOSA members including Rev. Dr. Obed Dashan and Prof. Bogoro to collaborate with the President of COCIN, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo, in developing a comprehensive framework for the Gindiri Renewal Initiative. The initiative, he explained, will mobilize local and international support to modernize facilities and revive the schools’ once-thriving agricultural heritage.

The Governor also highlighted several ongoing interventions within the compound, including the installation of solar-powered lighting, the donation of chairs to the sanctuary, and the construction of a perimeter fence to enhance security around the schools and host community. He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to reintroduce agricultural education through programmes in poultry, piggery, and small-scale ranching.

Reiterating his government’s commitment to restoring peace and order across Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang called on citizens to take ownership of community security.

“Security is everyone’s responsibility. If you see something, say something. Plateau shall be preserved, and our people shall enjoy their share of prosperity,”

he stated.

In his remarks, GOSA National President and Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Arc. Samuel Jatau, reaffirmed the indivisibility of the association and urged members to continue nurturing the spirit of unity and shared progress.

COCIN President, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo, proprietor of the Gindiri Schools, commended GOSA for sustaining the bonds of unity over the years. He noted that the influence of Gindiri’s founding vision extends well beyond the Middle Belt, having produced leaders of national and international repute.

Preaching on the topic “The Power of Light and Truth” from Psalm 43:3, Rev. Dr. Obed Dashan reminded members that the school’s motto, “For Light and Truth,” embodies the call to functional education anchored on integrity, faith, and excellence.

The Chaplain of the Gindiri Schools Chaplaincy, Rev. John Yakubu Sagai, expressed gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for his unwavering support towards the development of the compound, particularly the solar lighting project and the donation of seats to the church sanctuary.

For many alumni, the 33rd National Convention rekindled cherished memories of their formative years and renewed their collective resolve to strengthen a legacy that, for over seven decades, has produced men and women of faith, knowledge, and vision.
