Governor Mutfwang Congratulates Prof. Dakas C.J. Dakas on Appointment, Describes him as Scholar of Intellectual Excellence and Professional Integrity.

In a statement on Wednesday by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has congratulated one of Plateau’s finest sons, Prof. Dakas C.J. Dakas (SAN), on his nomination and confirmation by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission.


Describing the appointment as well deserved, Governor Mutfwang in a congratulatory message expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for finding Prof. Dakas worthy of such a critical national assignment.


He said the appointment was a fitting recognition of a man whose life has been defined by intellectual excellence, professional integrity, and unshakable commitment to the advancement of Nigeria’s legal and governance systems.


The Governor described Prof. Dakas as a fountain of knowledge and a legal icon whose towering contributions to legal scholarship, constitutional reforms, and the promotion of rule of law have significantly enriched Nigeria’s justice system and democratic governance.


He recalled that Prof. Dakas, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Plateau State, was also the Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Jos. He noted that Prof. Dakas's efforts in reforming the criminal justice system during his tenure in Plateau State remain indelible.


Governor Mutfwang further lauded the erudite scholar’s remarkable academic journey, including graduating with First Class Honours in Law from the University of Jos, and acknowledged his extensive publications on International Law, Human Rights, and Constitutionalism,works that have helped shape governance policies and legal systems across Africa.


He extolled Prof. Dakas's visionary leadership, resilience, and unrelenting dedication to justice, equity, and national development. According to the Governor, Prof. Dakas exemplifies the values of integrity, inclusion, and excellence, and his appointment heralds a new era of strategic legal reforms for national transformation.


On behalf of the government and the peace-loving people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang also congratulated Professor Fatima Alkali and Dr. Uchenna Okorocha on their confirmation as Commissioners of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission. He offered prayers for divine wisdom, strength, and grace upon Prof. Dakas as he embarks on this noble national duty.
