Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has emphasized the necessity of reviewing and streamlining academic programs of the state's tertiary institutions to redefine the future of education in the state.
Governor Mutfwang, stated this on Monday, at the inauguration of a nine-member committee chaired by Prof. William Barnabas Qurix. The Committee is tasked with the responsibility of reviewing and streamlining programs offered by the State Tertiary Institutions for improved synergy and collaboration.
"We found it necessary to do this because we think that we need to look at the future of education and also look at the education of the future. Where we need to be in the years to come, and this periodic review has become very critical and necessary," stated Governor Mutfwang.
He expressed readiness to engage resource persons nationwide and thanked Professor Qurix, a veteran University administrator and former Vice Chancellor of Bingham University from Kaduna State, for accepting to head the Committee.
Governor Mutfwang urged the committee members to utilize their diverse experiences to provide insights for repositioning the educational sector in the state. He emphasized the importance of wide consultations and reputable recommendations to reform the institutions efficiently.
The Governor disclosed that there are ongoing negotiations with tertiary institutions abroad for greater collaboration with the aim of optimizing operations within the institutions.
Dr. Mrs. Kachollom Gang, Commissioner of Higher Education, said the Mutfwang administration has taken deliberate steps to revitalize the educational sector, with a view to producing competent manpower.
Prof. William Barnabas Qurix, Chairman of the Committee, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity, pledging their support in fostering a robust educational environment.
