In a strong show of solidarity and mutual respect, the Mupun Nation on Monday commended the Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his transformational leadership, which has brought tangible development to rural communities across the state.

In a statement by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the Mishkom Mupun, His Royal Highness Da Yusuf Walle, made the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Rayfield, Jos.

Da Walle expressed profound gratitude for the Governor’s interventions in Mupun land, particularly the ongoing road construction projects, improved electricity supply, and the upgrading of healthcare and educational facilities.

“Your Excellency, the Mupun Nation is grateful. We are witnessing the positive changes. Your leadership is people-focused, and we are here to encourage you to remain steadfast on this noble path,” the traditional ruler said.

In his remarks, Governor Mutfwang described the Mupun people as “a model of unity and purpose,” stressing that Plateau’s true strength lies in its diversity, united by a common vision.

“When Mupun land is united, when Mwaghavul, Ngas, and other groups come together, then Plateau speaks with one voice. Unity is essential, without it, there can be no meaningful progress. That is a principle we must all uphold,” the Governor stated.

He added: “Division should never be a cause for separation. Rather, it should serve as a basis for growth and progress. Though we may identify with different communities, we remain one people. God has already bound us together, and our shared relationships over the years have only deepened these bonds.”

Governor Mutfwang praised the organizational structure and unity of the Mupun Nation, noting that their focus on collective interest over political differences is a shining example for other ethnic groups. He also acknowledged the advisory role played by respected Mupun elders in his administration, whose counsel continues to positively influence policy decisions.

“The contribution of the Mupun Nation to the development of Plateau State is indelible. Your unity of purpose is rare and deeply appreciated,” he affirmed.

The Governor restated his vision of significantly improving the per capita income of Plateau citizens by the end of his tenure, emphasizing that his administration will continue to create opportunities and harness the unique strengths of every community.

He reiterated his commitment to building a modern Plateau through targeted investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and tourism.

“We’ve suffered from insecurity, but the bigger enemy we face is poverty. Insecurity is often manipulated to keep us poor. Our land is rich, our people are talented, we must fully tap into our resources for collective prosperity,” the Governor charged.

He called for sustained unity across ethnic and communal lines, stressing that meaningful development begins with internal cohesion and harmony.
