...As Former Sierra Leonean President Ernest Bai Koroma Graces Empowerment Outreach in Jos

In a statement by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has joined countless well-wishers both at home and abroad to celebrate the birthday of the Chairman of Stanel Group of Companies, Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu.

In a heartfelt tribute delivered during the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation Outreach Programme held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, in Jos, Governor Mutfwang applauded Dr. Uzochukwu for marking his birthday by uplifting widows and orphans, describing the act as a noble expression of compassion and divine service.

He reaffirmed the Plateau State Government’s readiness to deepen strategic partnerships with the Stanley Uzochukwu Foundation to further humanitarian and development goals across the State.

The high-profile outreach programme was graced by several dignitaries, including the former President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, who was warmly received as a friend of Plateau State and a symbol of pan-African solidarity.

The outreach focused on empowering widows, orphans, and other vulnerable groups, with the distribution of critical items including sewing machines, grinding machines, foodstuff, and wheelchairs for persons with disabilities.

Governor Mutfwang, visibly moved by the scale and sincerity of the gesture, commended Dr. Uzochukwu for remaining connected to his roots and investing meaningfully in the people of Plateau.

“I am always inspired by people whose deepest desire is to improve the lives of others,” the Governor said. “I congratulate Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu for this outstanding initiative. You have not only reached out to the less privileged, but you’ve also touched the heart of God, who is ever moved by acts of compassion.”

Describing the gesture as a “divine covenant act,” Governor Mutfwang emphasized its spiritual and social significance. He urged beneficiaries to receive the empowerment as a seed of transformation, and to extend kindness to others as they themselves have been remembered.

“You have chosen to remember where your story began, and for this, Plateau is grateful. This is your home. We count you among us.”

The Governor reiterated the state’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with the Foundation: “We will collaborate with you in every way possible to touch more lives. Your vision perfectly aligns with our development priorities, and we are determined to amplify this impact.”

In his goodwill message, former President Ernest Bai Koroma described the outreach as a powerful expression of love and humanity, urging more Africans to embrace the culture of giving back as a vital strategy to combat poverty and build inclusive communities.

“The greatest power we possess as a continent is the power to lift one another,” he declared. “This is a great day for the people of Plateau and the thousands of beneficiaries who have received life-changing support on this birthday. Supporting 15,000 widows, the disabled, and providing a safe space for orphans to access education and shelter. This is the essence of leadership and humanity.”

The former president particularly lauded Dr. Uzochukwu’s commitment to hosting orphans in his own home, calling it a rare act of selflessness: “You have made a personal commitment by opening your home to these children. Only God can truly reward such generosity. This is what it means to serve humanity.”

Earlier, in his remarks, Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu traced the humble beginnings of his foundation over 15 years ago. He disclosed that over 15,000 widows and thousands of orphans have benefitted through scholarships and skills development under the Foundation’s education and livelihood pillars.

“This empowerment today is my thanksgiving offering to God for His faithfulness,” he said. “I have chosen to celebrate my birthday not with parties, but by giving back to God and to society.”

The event climaxed with the commissioning of a newly constructed Outreach Home in Gada Biyu, a milestone that further cements Plateau State’s place on Nigeria’s humanitarian map.
