Governor Mutfwang Reiterate Commitment to Boost Agriculture and Food Security in Plateau State.

During a visit to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, in Abuja, Governor Mutfwang expressed optimism that tapping into the agricultural potential could address the nation's food security and ongoing food crisis.

In a statement, by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Berev, Plateau's favorable climate for farming is a boon, and efforts are underway to enhance the production of commodities like Irish potatoes, coffee, and beef for export, the Governor noted.

"Agriculture is no longer a mere talking point on the Plateau; it's a critical endeavor. Our future hinges on our agricultural success, and we're approaching it with renewed vigor this year," he declared.

Economists agree that Africa holds the key to future wealth and food security, prompting Plateau to focus on sectors like horticulture and seek collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture to position Nigeria prominently on the global horticulture map.

Governor Mutfwang assured that lands left fallow last year due to security concerns are being reclaimed to contribute to national food security and sustain the state and nation.

Sen. Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, offered his condolences for the tragic incidents in Plateau last December and expressed hope for a peaceful future.

He lauded Governor Mutfwang's initiatives and actions to enhance security and agricultural output in Plateau, pledging the Ministry's full support in realizing the state's agricultural potential for improved food security.
