In a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity, Mapis Jonathan Marawes, the Executive Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Council, Hon. Amalau Samuel Amalau, has strongly condemned the ongoing, coordinated, and brazen attacks on communities in Mushere Chiefdom, describing them as barbaric, inhuman, and a direct threat to peace and coexistence.

According to reliable local reports, the wave of attacks began at midnight on Sunday, August 3, 2025, claiming the life of a woman, destroying multiple homes, and ravaging farmlands. What began under the cover of darkness has now escalated into coordinated daylight assaults, continuing from Monday through Tuesday with increased intensity.

Residents confirmed that while the swift intervention of security agents on Monday morning helped to prevent what could have been a larger tragedy, Tuesday's attack was far more devastating. Eye-witnesses recount that over 500 armed Fulani militias descended upon the community in a coordinated onslaught, resulting in widespread destruction of lives and property.

Reacting to the situation, Hon. Amalau expressed deep concern and sorrow over the recurring attacks, lamenting the loss of innocent lives and the growing sense of fear and displacement among residents.

“This is not just an attack on Mushere—it is an attack on the soul of Bokkos,” the Chairman stated. “We cannot continue to watch our people be slaughtered and their livelihoods destroyed in broad daylight. Enough is enough.”

He urgently called on security agencies—including the Nigerian Army, Police, Civil Defence, and community-based security operatives—to rise to the occasion and act decisively in neutralizing the threats posed by these criminal militias. He emphasized the need for intelligence gathering, rapid response, and deployment of more personnel to the vulnerable areas to forestall further attacks.

The Chairman also appealed to the State and Federal Governments, humanitarian organizations, and peacebuilding partners to support the affected families and aid the restoration of normalcy in the area.

While praying for the victims and their families, Hon. Amalau reiterated his administration’s commitment to defending the Bokkos heritage, promoting peaceful coexistence, and ensuring that those responsible for these heinous acts are brought to justice.
