The Free Mega Medical Outreach sponsored by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Esq, and the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Ngo Josephine Piyo is providing a vital lifeline to indigent and vulnerable persons across the three Senatorial Districts of the state, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for all.

A visit to the Shendam and Mangu General Hospitals, designated centres for the Southern and Central Senatorial Districts, respectively, revealed a remarkable turnout of beneficiaries, including women, children, the elderly and other residents seeking medical attention. The outreach has brought renewed hope to many who would otherwise struggle to afford essential medical services.

The initiative offers a wide range of free healthcare services, including eye care, dental treatment, laboratory investigations and surgical procedures.

In addition, the Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) is enrolling eligible beneficiaries into health insurance schemes to strengthen access to healthcare beyond the outreach and promote sustained health coverage.

Speaking on the progress of the exercise, the Team Lead, Dr. Nuhu Ma’an, disclosed that hundreds of residents have continued to turn out daily to benefit from the programme.

He expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the exercise, noting that the medical teams have remained committed to ensuring that beneficiaries receive timely and appropriate attention.

Dr. Ma’an assured the public that adequate medical personnel have been deployed across the two centres currently hosting the outreach.

He explained that the teams are effectively managing the cases presented to them, with particular attention to the needs of vulnerable individuals requiring medical intervention.

He further announced that the flag-off of the outreach in the Northern Senatorial District is scheduled for next week and will be performed by the Executive Governor, marking the extension of the programme to the remaining senatorial zone of the state.

The Free Mega Medical Outreach underscores the Mutfwang administration’s people-centred approach to governance, placing the health, dignity and well-being of citizens at the heart of public service.

By bringing essential medical services closer to underserved communities and reducing the financial burden of healthcare, the initiative demonstrates a practical commitment to inclusive development and the protection of the most vulnerable.

For many beneficiaries, the outreach represents more than access to treatment; it is an expression of compassion, responsible leadership and the determination to ensure that no resident of Plateau State is left behind because of an inability to afford medical care.
